Why investors should attend Newcastle Startup Week…

If you’re looking to cast your net wider & find innovative new investment opportunities in the UK outside London, you should consider attending some of our annual 5-day (& night) Newcastle Startup Week festival in May!

For the 4th year in a row, Newcastle Startup Week will take place in multiple venues across Newcastle upon Tyne & Gateshead in May with the aim of inspiring, motivating, encouraging & helping more people to ‘Start Something New’ in the North East of England.

Our 2017 & 2018 events both attracted just over 600 delegates from across the UK & around the world & in 2019 the number increased to just over 800. Our next event will be on 18-22 May 2020 & we’re aiming to attract 1,000 delegates…

Which day(s) should you attend?

Each of the 5 days are themed as ‘Inspiration’, ‘Getting Started’, ‘Funding & Finance’, ‘Growing & Scaling’ & ‘Keep Going or Pivot?’ covering every stage of the entrepreneurial journey in a way that engages the whole North East business community from pre-startup to corporate & everything in between.

Day 1 (‘Inspiration’) is all about celebrating local business success stories from the past, present & future & will include a selection of startup pitches onstage alongside world-class speakers from the North East, North of England & Scotland.

(This will be followed by an after party in Newcastle city centre which will be a great way to get to know key members of the North East startup & scaleup community).

The main Day 2 (‘Getting Started’) event is primarily aimed at pre-start & early stage startups looking to bring their ideas to life so investors may not wish to attend this event. However, it will also be preceded by a VR / AR / Immersive Tech showcase fringe event at PROTO: The Emerging Technology Centre in the morning.

The main Day 3 (‘Funding & Finance’) event is for anyone looking for money to help them start or grow a business in the North East of England, covering what grants, loans, crowdfunding, angel investment & venture capital is available & so would be a good day for investors to attend in search of investees.

(This event will also be preceded by an invite-only, behind-closed-doors angel investor & VC pitch event hosted by the Northern Angel Hub team at Innovation SuperNetwork. If you would like to attend this event, please to secure your free place).

(The daytime events will then be followed by a private tour of nearby St James’ Park (home of Newcastle United FC) & an after party / networking event hosted by F*ckup Nights Newcastle @ NINE Bar, St James’ Park).

Day 4 (aka ‘Newcastle Scaleup Summit’) is all about helping startups & established SMEs understand what it takes to accelerate their growth & take things to the next level, including investment & so this would be a good day for investors to attend.
