Volunteer at Newcastle Startup Week

Newcastle Startup Week are now recruiting volunteers to help organise our five day multi-venue startup festival across Newcastle and Gateshead between 13 and 17 May 2019.

Volunteering is a unique opportunity to peak behind-the-scenes of the festival, engage with event partners, speakers and delegates, and learn more about business management and startups.

Become part of an amazing events experience, hosting speakers such as Steve Bartlett, Founder of Europe’s fastest growing social media agency ‘Social Chain’, Ed Molyneux, Founder of UK’s number one accounting software 2018 ‘FreeAgent’, and Sam Conniff, award-winning serial social entrepreneur and author of Be More Pirate.

to gain free access to all five event days and nights – and get your hands on one of our exclusive startup week event t-shirts.

All ages and backgrounds welcome. Volunteering is completely flexible and requires a commitment of at least one full event day in total (can be split in half days). Tasks may include managing registration, timing speakers, and networking with delegates.

“Volunteering at Start-Up Week was not really like volunteering – because I gained so much from it! It gave me the opportunity to meet some great like-minded people who are as passionate about start-ups as I am, it gave me the chance to listen to some of the North-East’s top entrepreneurial talent (without having to pay for a ticket!) and finally, it reminded me of how lucky I am to be studying in a region which is so supportive of entrepreneurs. Thanks Paul Lancaster and Sarah Crimmens! “

When I studied at Newcastle University, I was volunteering for Newcastle Startup Week. I got inspired and decided to set up my own business in the region. I have gone on to successfully apply for an entrepreneur’s VISA and have stayed in the region to grow my business.”
Huang Wei Ting, Founder of Busy Backpack (see her speak on ‘day 2’).

“When I first learned about Newcastle Startup Week three years ago, I was immediately super keen to be involved. It seemed like a fantastic opportunity to add practical experience to my degree and expand my networks. The team is amazing to work with and really help you connect with like-minded individuals and businesses. I would 100% recommend Newcastle Startup Week to anyone who is considering volunteering or attending.”
Lisa van Heereveld, previously Volunteer Leader and now Marketing & Event Manager.
